2010 CACPP Successfully Held in Beijing
“2010 China Academic Conference on Printing and Packaging” which is hosted by China Academy of Printing Technology and Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, organized by the editorial board of China Printing and Packaging Study and School of Printing and Packaging Engineering of Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication was successfully held at the President Hotel of National Academy of Education Administration on November 27 to 28. Mr. Shi Wanpeng, Chairman of China Packaging Federation, Mr. Wu Wenxiang, Honorary President of the Printing Technology Association of China, Mr. Ni Guangnan, Academician of China Engineering Academy, Miss Zou Jing, Academician of China Engineering Academy, Mr. Zheng Jichun, Secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, Miss Chen Yan, President of China Academy of Printing Technology all presented at the conference and made speeches for the opening ceremony.
In his speech, Mr. Shi Wanpeng pointed out that compared with the advanced world level, Chinese packaging industry still has a long way to go, especially in the aspect of improving self innovation and research & development capability. During the period of “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, we should seize the strategic opportunity to assimilate and digest advanced technologies introduced from other countries. Meanwhile, we have to strive to enhance the capability for innovation and intensify the efforts for scientific research so as to catch up with the advanced world level within ten years. Besides, we also need to broaden our vision and make more efforts to cultivate inter-disciplinary talents for the packaging industry as so to set up a solid foundation for the improvement of the overall level as well as to maintain a sustainable development for the packaging industry.
Mr. Wu Wenxiang suggested Chinese printing industry improve the self-innovation capability and promote the modernization of the printing industry by adopting digital and internet technologies.
Academician Ni Guangnan pointed out in speech that Chinese printing and packaging industry is now facing two challenges. One is the improvement of innovation capability; the other is the application of scientific achievements, which are the most important way to strengthen Chinese printing industry.
“2010 China Academic Conference on Printing and Packaging” was co-hosted by as many as 18 well-known universities and institutes both home and abroad. It aims to highlight scientific innovation and promote a sustainable and healthy development of the printing and packaging industry. It is not only an international event for the academic circle of Chinese printing industry, but also a summit forum for the experts, scholars, and scientific researchers. Around 200 delegates from more than 50 universities and institutes attended the keynote speech and panel discussions. The keynote speech was hosted by Prof. Pu Jialing, Vice President of Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, Mr. Chu Tingliang, Vice President of China Academy of Printing Technology, and Prof. Xu wencai, Assistant President of Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication. Prof. Howard Vogl from Rochester Institute of Technology, Prof. Ronnier Luo from Leeds University, Dr. Philipp Urban from Technische Universität Darmstadt , Prof. Takashi Kitamura from Chiba University, Prof. Pu Jialing from Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, Research Yang Bin from Peking University as all as Researcher Song Yanlin from the Institute of Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences made keynote speeches for the conference, introducing the latest trends and scientific achievements in the fields of variable data processing, color reproduction, image processing, color electronic paper, inkjet technology and nano green printing material application, which aroused great interest among the attendees and generated a heated discussion during the Q&A session.
The conference all together received 261 papers from more than 50 universities and institutes. After four rounds of reviewing, 128 excellent papers were published on the special volume of Advanced Materials Research, 141 Chinese papers and 7 keynote reports were published by China Printing and Packaging Study. During the panel discussion, delegates participated in the sessions of “color science & technology”, “technical study& printing quality control”, “image processing technology & digital printing technology”, “mechanical engineering & automation control”, “ink & related technology”, “paper & printability”, “packaging material study”, “printing & packaging history study”.
The hosts indicated that they plan to organize a high-level academic conference of such sort every two years with the purpose of facilitating academic communication within the printing and packaging circle, narrowing the distance between foreign and domestic universities and institutes, enhancing the research capability of Chinese printing and packaging, and accelerating the pace of the industrialization of research findings.
